Ah fall, that wonderful time of the year to garnish yourself in fluffy tufts of cashmere and angora. While the rest of the country packed away their summer closets weeks ago, the transition from Summer to Fall is glacial here in San Diego, and then within a blink, I know it will be gone. Thus the importance of drinking in as much of fall as possible.
I know I am probably alone in this, but to me fall is not about everything pumpkin, but rather everything apple cinnamon. This is why one of my favorite fall festivities is taking a quick road trip over to Julian, home of Southern California’s most amazing apple pies. Even my boyfriend, who previously proclaimed his distaste for pies, agrees that the pie we got in Julian is quite remarkable.
Plus, with Julian being just east enough of the coast to get a true crisp in the wind, it is a great excuse for me to pull out my coziest sweater and enjoy some hot apple cider as we stroll under the sienna leaves of the transitioning trees.
